JAN LUIJKENSTRAAT 2
AMSTERDAM

Redevelopment of an office space to 4 high-end residentials and a commercial area

This double, detached urban villa from 1898, was designed and inhabited by architect Eduard Cuypers, who also had his office there. In this office, located opposite the Rijksmuseum, the Amsterdamse School was born: a Dutch architectural style that flourished in the period from 1910 to 1930.

Cuypers had an eclectic architectural style. He combined elements from various movements, something that is clearly visible in this property with characteristics like asymmetry, flower and leaf reliefs in natural stone, stained glass windows, bay windows, the tower and dormers on different levels.

In this building, REB realised four outstanding apartments and a business space that is currently being used as an art gallery.
